Conarium, a unique, self-described Lovecraftian style indie horror game, was released today by Zoetrope Interactive and Iceberg Interactive. The game can currently be purchased via Steam and other digital retailers. The game retails at $19.99 (USD) and right now on Steam, for the entire launch week, the game is 15% off.
The plot of Conarium follows 4 scientists trying to break through the walls of reality so to speak. According to the games website, the game begins when the player regains consciousness in an abandoned Antarctic research base. In a style highly reminiscent of MYST, you will explore the base and attempt to figure out what exactly happened.
Conarium's lead programmer at Zoetrope Interactive, Galip Kartoglu, had this to say:
“Conarium is our third project and with it we sought to deliver players a horrifying new adventure – in a style that’s typical of H.P. Lovecraft’s writing. We built on Lovecraftian lore and expanded the mythos, the game being a homage to the events of ‘At the Mountains of Madness’. With Conarium we hope to contribute to H.P. Lovecraft’s long lasting legacy of crafting a highly atmospheric yet alienating sense of place.”
Check out the release trailer below but fair warning, nightmare may follow!
