E3 2017When it comes to E3, we usually think of big developers and publishers like Ubisoft, Activision, Blizzard and the like. What doesn't normally come to mind are the indie devs. A lot of indie titles get a big boost by being featured at the expo. A little game called Minecraft got a massive kick when they attended E3 back in 2011. So today we decided to take a look at the 6 indie titles we are looking forward to at E3 and you should too!

Lost Ember by Mooneye Studios

First up on our list is a really unique indie game by relative newcomer, Mooneye Studios. Lost Ember takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting, although not what one would think. The landscape is a vibrant a landscape where nature has reclaimed the world long after mankind has vanished. You control a series of wild animals, such as a wolf, exploring the game world trying to piece together what happened. All in all, the game is visually stunning and unique that one can't really help but look forward to it.

  • Platform: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows
  • Developer: Mooneye Studios
  • Genre: Adventure
  • Release date: Early 2018

FE by Zoink Games

Unlike Mooneye, Zoink is a not-so-new comer. Their new indie game, FE, is being developed with the help of publisher EA. FE, much like the previous title, is a visually stunning epic exploring nature. The game aims to, and from the trailer, really does express humanities longing to be a part of nature. In this indie game, you'll awaken as a bear cub and explore the open-world, learning the ecosystem around you.

  • Platform: TBA
  • Developer: Zoink Games
  • Genre: Adventure
  • Release Date: TBA

Away: Journey To The Unexpected

A true indie game, being developed by two individual developers, Jim Gennisson and  Aurelien Regard. Away: Journey To The Unexpected is a real refresher when it comes to an indie RPG. The artwork on the game is a very cartoon-like 2D soft animation but in 3D, first-person gameplay style. The focus on the game is through recruiting allies through negotiation bringing a unique touch to the RPG/Adventure genre. Not too much is known about the game as of yet but is expected to be out on Steam and more by the end of the year.

  • Platform: Playstation 4, Switch, Xbox One, Windows
  • Developer: Aurelien Regard & Jim Gennisson
  • Genre: Adventure/RPG
  • Release date: Late 2017

Moonlighter by Digital Sun

Moonlighter is an action RPG from indie developer Digital Sun. Although this will be their first solo title, Digital Sun is far from inexperienced. They've been doing outsource work for other developers for a number of years now. Moonlighter follows a shopkeeper who basically got tired of keeping shop and decided to get in on the adventure. The fame features a pretty cunning crafting system which the player will use to run their shop by day as well as complete quests for the villagers of Rynoka and raid dungeons by night.

  • Platform: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows, Mac
  • Developer: Digital Sun Studios
  • Genre: Rogue-like RPG
  • Release Date: Late 2017

Pyre by Supergiant Games

Pyre is a new Party-RPG game by veteran indie dev, Supergiant. In Pyre, the player will lead a band of exiles to freedom from purgatory. The game features Supergiant's biggest yet single-player campaign where the player will complete a series of competitions to ultimately earn theirs and their parties freedom. Pyre features stunning and unique visuals, reminiscent of drawn-animation, that will be sure to grab players attention and hold it. Just check out the trailer below!

  • Platform: Playstation 4, Windows
  • Developer: Supergiant Games
  • Genre: RPG/Adventure
  • Release Date: July 25, 2017

Shape Of The World by Hollow Tree Games

Bought to us by Hollow Tree Games, Shape Of The World is a unique, adventure-style game in which the player has a direct influence on the game world. Not so much of a sand box way a la games like Minecraft. In Shape Of The World, the environment literally adapts to the presence of the player. Another visually satisfying indie game, we highly recommend taking a few minutes to check out the trailer.

  • Platform: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows, Mac
  • Developer: Hollow Tree Games
  • Genre: Adventure
  • Release Date: 2017
